Motel One Frankfurt-Römer Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Motel One Frankfurt-Römer, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical budget chain hotel. The lobby has this sleek, modern design that feels more upscale than the price point suggests — honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. The staff at check-in were genuinely friendly (not just going through the motions), and you can tell they actually know the neighborhood well enough to give you real recommendations. The attention to detail in the public spaces sets the tone for what to expect throughout your stay.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s the thing about staying in Frankfurt‘s Old Town — you’re literally in the heart of everything that matters. This three-star hotel sits on Berliner Strasse, which means you can walk to Römerberg square in about three minutes. I mean, you’re practically next door to those iconic half-timbered buildings that everyone comes to see. The Hauptwache shopping area is maybe a ten-minute stroll, and if you need to catch a train, the Hauptbahnhof is close enough that you won’t be stressed about making connections. The neighborhood truly offers the best of both worlds for travelers.

The Room Experience

The room design follows Motel One’s signature style — clean lines, that distinctive turquoise accent wall, and everything you actually need without unnecessary clutter. The bed was surprisingly comfortable for this price range, and the shower had proper water pressure (you know how hit-or-miss that can be in European hotels). What I really appreciated was the soundproofing — even though you’re in the city center, street noise wasn’t an issue at night. The compact layout maximizes functionality without sacrificing comfort or style.

Practical Perks

The One Lounge downstairs becomes your go-to spot pretty quickly. It’s not just a lobby bar — it’s where you’ll probably end up working if you need wifi, grabbing a quick bite, or just planning your next day over a decent coffee. They don’t have a full restaurant, but honestly, with Frankfurt’s Old Town right outside your door, you’d be missing out if you didn’t explore the local dining scene anyway. The 24-hour front desk actually means 24 hours, which came in handy when I had an early flight. Staff members are consistently helpful with restaurant recommendations and local insights.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this hotel gets the fundamentals right — location, cleanliness, and value. Couples seem to particularly appreciate it because you can walk everywhere romantic in the Old Town, then come back to a stylish base that doesn’t break the budget. The recent guests aren’t wrong about the location being top-notch; you really can’t do much better for accessing both the historic sites and the business district. It’s that sweet spot where you get modern comfort in a prime location without paying premium prices. Whether you’re visiting for business or leisure, this property delivers on its promises consistently.

Reviews of Motel One Frankfurt-Römer

  • Aspasia from Greece – 30 March 2025 (9/10)

Comfortable rooms if you choose the comfort ones, great staff. Very good 24h bar downstairs.

    What could be improved: –

  • Gökçe from Turkey – 20 March 2025 (8/10)

Room was clean and modern decorated. And the bar inside of the otel was quite good. Perfect location obviously.

What could be improved: Room was cold at night and air conditioning not working somehow.
Receptionists are generally kind but the girl when I was checking out is completely exception – kinda rude and dislike her attitude…

  • Stephen from United States – 19 March 2025 (8/10)

Great central location close to tram and U-bahn lines (provided service is not on strike!) and a short distance to the opera house, restaurants, Römer, and Hauptwache; professional and accommodating staff and consistent breakfast.

What could be improved: Rooms were quite small for two people, and because it’s a popular hotel, the breakfast area was stressfully busy and crowded.

  • Edward from United Kingdom – 17 March 2025 (7/10)

Location, friendly staff and lovely bard

What could be improved: No kettle or fridge in the room

  • Steve from United Kingdom – 12 March 2025 (8/10)

The hotel was very close to many of the Christmas market locations so we were able to experience many different elements. As they were so close, we were also able to break up the day and rest between venturing out.

  • Anne from New Zealand – 10 March 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: No tea making facilities in room

  • Ana from United States – 6 March 2025 (8/10)

The lobby and common areas were amazing. The location was great and rooms, although tiny, were clean.

What could be improved: They did not have laundry bags for your dirty clothes nor shower caps.

  • Naomi from Canada – 24 February 2025 (7/10)

Location and lobby bar, well stocked, are the best aspects. The breakfast is fresh and typical.

What could be improved: The amenities (or lack of essentials), particularly for leisure travel would be an easy fix – hair conditioner, larger side tables.

  • Annette from United Kingdom – 24 February 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: The room was a bit hot and AC was off

  • Anthony from United States – 17 February 2025 (9/10)

    Great
