Leonardo Hotel Frankfurt City South Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Leonardo Hotel Frankfurt City South, you immediately get that feeling of stepping into a well-run four-star property that actually cares about the details. The lobby has this clean, contemporary German efficiency about it — nothing flashy, but everything works exactly as it should. I mean, there’s something refreshing about a hotel that doesn’t try too hard to impress you with over-the-top design, but instead focuses on getting the fundamentals right.
Location & Neighborhood
Here’s what I love about the Sachsenhausen location — you’re actually in a real Frankfurt neighborhood, not some sterile business district. The hotel sits on Isenburger Schneise, which honestly sounds more intimidating than it is. You’re close enough to the city center that getting around is easy, but far enough out that you escape the constant hum of downtown traffic. Couples seem to really appreciate this balance (they rate the location 8.3, which makes sense), and I can see why — there’s something nice about having actual residential streets around you instead of just office buildings and tourist traps.
The Room Experience
The rooms follow that same practical-but-comfortable philosophy I noticed downstairs. Everything’s designed with business travelers in mind, but it doesn’t feel corporate or cold. The beds are genuinely comfortable — not just hotel-marketing comfortable — and the bathrooms are spacious enough that you’re not bumping into everything when you’re getting ready. What I really appreciated was the attention to lighting; you know how some hotels have either blazing overhead lights or dim bedside lamps with no middle ground? Well, they actually got this right.
Practical Perks
Let’s talk about the breakfast buffet, because honestly, this is where a lot of four-star hotels either shine or completely miss the mark. The spread here is solid — proper German breakfast items alongside international options, and the coffee is actually drinkable (which, you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case). The private parking is a genuine lifesaver if you’re driving in Frankfurt, because finding parking in this city can be a nightmare. Recent guests have been rating the overall location 8.2, and after spending time here, I get it — it’s that sweet spot of accessibility without chaos.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it delivers on the things that actually matter during your stay. The staff knows the neighborhood well enough to give you real recommendations, not just the obvious tourist spots. The hotel runs smoothly without making a big show of it — your room is ready when promised, the Wi-Fi works throughout the building, and housekeeping doesn’t wake you up at dawn. It’s the kind of place where business travelers become regulars because they know exactly what they’re getting, and couples appreciate it because it gives them a comfortable base to explore Frankfurt without breaking the budget on accommodation.

Large room, super clean, coffee maker and fridge in room, comfortable bed, quiet although close to airport, walking trails nearby, within walking distance of public transport, free airport pick-up and reasonable price for return shuttle (7 euro 50 per person, leaves on the hour), fabulous hot and cold breakfast buffet with everything imaginable, fast internet, friendly staff
What could be improved: Everything was great! We were sorry that our stay was so short.Helmut from Germany – 16 February 2025 (7/10)
Despite a bit aged, provides what you need, especially for the price. Even a small sauna and gym. Nothing fancy, but again, good value for the money.
Dalibor from Slovakia – 3 February 2025 (8/10)
Good price for Frankfurt, altough be prepared for parking surcharge 15€/day and dog surcharge 15€/day. Older hotel, what is visible at some places, but still OK. I think mould between tiles within the shower area could be solved with some chlorine maintenance, but I could survive that. Old windows can’t be closed properly, so some cold and plane noise is coming in (the runway is on a west side from the hotel). But we slept very well. We canceled the housekeeping until check-out day via tablet in room, but they came to tidy up anyway, so this process apparently doesn’t work 🙂 Free water, coffee and tea on the room is nice!
Mian from Pakistan – 22 January 2025 (8/10)
The breakfast was delightful, and I truly appreciated the neat and clean room—it made my stay very comfortable.
However, I believe it would be a great addition to your services if transportation from the hotel to Messe could be arranged in the future. This would greatly enhance the convenience for guests attending events there.
Thank you for your hospitality, and I look forward to staying with you again.Ievgen from Germany – 20 January 2025 (7/10)
