Holiday Inn Express Frankfurt Messe by IHG Overview
First Impressions
Walking into the Holiday Inn Express Frankfurt Messe by IHG, you immediately get that “this is exactly what I needed” feeling. It’s one of those three-star places that doesn’t try to be something it’s not — just clean, modern, and refreshingly straightforward. The lobby has that signature Holiday Inn Express vibe with contemporary furnishings and efficient check-in, but what struck me was how genuinely welcoming the staff seemed, especially considering Frankfurt’s reputation for being all business.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s the thing about Gutleutstraße — you’re actually in a pretty sweet spot that most visitors don’t realize. Sure, you’re not right in the historic center, but the Gutleutviertel neighborhood has this interesting mix of residential charm and business practicality. The Messe (that’s the massive trade fair complex) is literally a few minutes away, which explains why couples rate this place so highly — you can attend events or meetings without the stress of navigating Frankfurt’s sometimes tricky public transport. Plus, having private parking at the hotel is honestly a game-changer in a city where finding a spot can cost you both time and sanity.
The Room Experience
The rooms follow that Holiday Inn Express formula, but executed really well. You know what I mean — everything’s where you expect it to be, the bed is surprisingly comfortable, and there’s actually enough space to open your suitcase without playing furniture Tetris. The bathrooms are compact but functional, with decent water pressure (always a relief after a long travel day). What I appreciated was the attention to lighting — there are enough options that you’re not stuck with either dungeon-dark or operating-room-bright, which sounds minor but makes a real difference when you’re trying to wind down.
Breakfast & Practical Perks
The buffet breakfast is where this place really shines for the price point. It’s not just the standard continental spread — there’s a proper selection of hot items, fresh fruit that actually looks appetizing, and coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since yesterday. I mean, you’re not going to confuse it with a high-end hotel breakfast, but it genuinely sets you up for the day. The dining area gets busy during trade fair seasons (which is often in Frankfurt), so heading down a bit earlier saves you from the morning rush.
Why Guests Love It
What keeps people coming back is the reliability factor — this hotel delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises. The 8.2 rating makes sense when you consider that it’s not trying to wow you with flashy amenities, just provide a solid base for whatever brought you to Frankfurt. Whether you’re here for the Messe, exploring the city, or using it as a jumping-off point for the broader region, you’ll find yourself actually relaxed rather than dealing with the usual travel hassles. It’s the kind of place where everything just works, which honestly feels pretty refreshing these days.

Yahya from United Kingdom – 24 February 2025 (9/10)
Excellent Breakfast, Lovely and polite staff, clean rooms and very reasonable price.
What could be improved: Perhaps on-site parking ( 20 per night)Baron from South Africa – 11 February 2025 (9/10)
I loved the area and close proximity to everything. The staff were fantastic!! Not the usual German coldness we ahave received in the past 20 years i have been attending the Fair. Well done to the staff for making it a very memorable stay.
What could be improved: I loved it but yes there were some minor issues.
1. Beer ran out on Friday night. Bad mistake for not having beer for the weekend. Only Weis beer
2. Two seperate rooms never had coffee mugs cleared.
3. My aircon didn’t work. Reported it on Saturday but understand that it couldn’t be fixed on a weekend?
4. Toilets downstairs smelled awfulAllan from Germany – 30 January 2025 (9/10)
The room is clean and organized. The lobby, hallways, bar and cafeteria are clean.
What could be improved: Small breakfast choice.Ervin from Greece – 27 January 2025 (9/10)
What could be improved: The breakfast could be better.
Özgür from Turkey – 24 January 2025 (8/10)
Close to the city centre
What could be improved: Rooms are not big enough for the nucleus familyEkaterina from Russia – 11 January 2025 (9/10)
Modern and comfortable room. There was a kettle and tea and coffee in the room. It's always a pleasure.
What could be improved: There was no toilet paper in the room. The room was booked for three people, but the cups and towels were only for two people. We asked the staff to bring extra cups, towels and toilet paper, but this was not done.Fda from Romania – 29 December 2024 (7/10)
Location , breakfast , staff .
What could be improved: There was no dryer in the room , no ventilation in the bathroom.Dennis from India – 10 December 2024 (9/10)
The complimentary Breakfast buffet was good, The room was clean and had all the facilities it was totally worth the price, The location was convenient.
What could be improved: There's nothing that I dont like everything was good maybe it could have been little spacious but it was perfect anyways.Megan from Canada – 5 December 2024 (8/10)
Provided 2 pillows and the beds were soft. 5 minute taxi ride from train station. Friendly staff and breakfast was included: it was a good variety though I wishes they had scrambled eggs, only hard boiled.
What could be improved: The window was left open in our room so it was 15°C. We tried turning it up but nothing was working, and were told its an old system and to wait. By the time we returned in the evening it was still 15, so they offered a new room to us. The new room was at least warmer, but still not temperature control.Prabu from Netherlands – 28 November 2024 (8/10)
Location is reachable by public transport and cab. Staffs available all the time
What could be improved: Room service not available. Could have provided a water bottle as complementary
