Memphis Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Memphis Hotel on Münchener Straße, you immediately get that this is a solid four-star choice without any pretense. The building sits right in the Bahnhofsviertel — and before you wrinkle your nose at the train station district reputation, hear me out. This area has really transformed, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better for getting around Frankfurt. I mean, you’re literally steps from everything that matters.
The Neighborhood Reality
Here’s what I love about staying here — the Bahnhofsviertel gets a bad rap, but it’s actually where the city’s energy is. Sure, it’s not the polished banking district, but you’ve got authentic restaurants, late-night spots, and that genuine Frankfurt vibe that tourists usually miss. The hotel scored an 8.4 for location, and I get why. You can walk to the Hauptbahnhof in under five minutes, which means day trips to Cologne or Munich are ridiculously easy. Plus, there’s something refreshing about a hotel that doesn’t try to hide from the city’s grittier side.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was what you’d expect from a well-run four-star — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed without going overboard. The windows actually open (a small miracle in modern hotels), and if you’re facing the street, you’ll hear some city noise. But honestly? That’s Frankfurt for you, and the double-glazed windows do their job well enough. The beds are properly firm, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The modern amenities include a well-equipped kitchenette for guests who prefer to prepare their own meals.
Practical Perks
What really won me over was the breakfast situation — they do a proper buffet that actually feels worth getting up for. I’m talking fresh bread, local cheeses, and coffee that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around since yesterday. The parking situation is another huge plus if you’re driving. Having private parking in this part of Frankfurt is genuinely valuable, and you don’t have to stress about finding a spot or feeding meters all day. The hotel also offers spa facilities where guests can unwind after exploring the city.
Why Guests Love It
The 7.6 rating tells the real story — this isn’t a flashy place trying to impress with marble lobbies, but it delivers exactly what most travelers actually need. Couples seem to particularly appreciate it (they rated the location 8.5), probably because you can easily walk to dinner in Sachsenhausen or catch a show in the city center. The staff knows the neighborhood well and can point you toward the good stuff that’s not in guidebooks. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying in Frankfurt, not just passing through it. Whether you’re traveling for business or leisure, this four-star hotel provides reliable comfort and genuine hospitality.

Benjamin from Italy – 30 March 2025 (8/10)
Very convenient to bars, restaurants, the main train station and street cars. Quiet room, reliable elevator, friendly staff.
Hongyu from Ireland – 15 March 2025 (9/10)
Very central location, room is clean, quiet at night, fast Wi-Fi, no problem working remotely
What could be improved: Probably the lift, sometimes long waitKhalid from United Kingdom – 12 February 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: Wasn’t too keen on the locationJames from United States – 26 December 2024 (7/10)
The lady who did the breakfast didn't speak much English but wow, she was amazing. You ask for coffee, you get two. She brought out cookies and fruit and it kept coming. This is on top of the actual breakfast bar that is set up. Certainly worth the $10 they charge.
The staff upon arrival was direct. Not really a warm welcome but efficient non the less. The location was amazing for walking into Frankfurt. In the direction of Frankfurt downtown is was safe and quiet with plenty of restaurants and shopping. The other way, towards the train station it became a little more sketchy. The red light district is about 4-5 blocks away and doesn't affect the hotel at all but if walking in that direction, just know its there. Nothing happened and we felt safe, just that area is more dirty and more homeless.
What could be improved: The area towards the train station is not so good but we still felt safe. The walls seems quite thin as we heard the comings and goings of everyone.Turkes from Kosovo – 11 October 2024 (9/10)
The girl from the reception was very kind and helpful.
What could be improved: Everything was perfect!Mattia from Italy – 19 September 2024 (7/10)
The hotel is strategically located near the train station and the Euro Tower. The room is clean and cozy, albeit quite small. The bathroom is great. The free wifi works properly. Everything you would expect from an average city hotel is present.
What could be improved: The price for one night is not particularly low. Unfortunately, the train station area in Frankfurt is not the nicest place and the hotel is very close to it. The minibar is empty and quite old (not very clean).Petra from United Kingdom – 21 August 2024 (9/10)
Lovely, lovely staff, and a nice breakfast with very attentive service and a huge variety. Usually, breakfast isn't available at all at this price of room, this was a lovely surprise.
What could be improved: Nothing I didn't like, just be aware that if you are a female traveller alone, and you don't know the area and arrive late at night, you might want to take the tube to Willy Brandt Platz and come from that direction. The hotel looks different, but you can check in after hours by calling the number at the door after reception is closed, and once inside it is really decent with lots of food places around.Maggy from Germany – 4 August 2024 (9/10)
All good. Will come back. Close to everything. Great value for money. Staff very nice.
